a couple more of the Eurasian Eagle Owl

I think it is the size, the talons, its ability to turns its head 270 degrees, and its feathers about the eyes which fascinate me but they are now a favorite of mine

what a thrill it would be to see them in the wild but unfortunately I don't have that option
My father was part of a breading programmet for eagle owls. They were all released in the wild for conservation purposes. Been on many releases and checks for nesting in the wild. Fed them chickens in the aviary.

Really good shots. She was here maybe 20 years ago, doesn't look much different. Enjoyable to work with.

Thank you guys. I'm just getting back to shooting shows again as I was shooting weddings for the past couple of months. Feels good to get back in the photo pit.

Tradition

Here is a snap of our Christmas tree as it is put up this year. The tree is loaded with traditions for us, after 52 years married.
  • The lights were purchased for our first married Christmas in Bad Sassendorf West Germany in 1965 a few months after we were married. They were built for 220 v service, and all but one are still working originals. We had to use one of the spares that came with it.
  • The pine cone ornaments were purchased at the same time
  • The bells also were purchased in Germany
  • The angel was made by my wife circa 1992
  • The Victorian icicles were a gift from our son in law
  • The rest of the ornaments have been collected by us over the years since 1967 when we returned to Canada

Since the replacement bulb was part of the lifetime spares supplied at time of purchase you can say you are still all original.

You saved money on the lights by buying good, rather than cheap. It is so hard to find good now because everyone focuses so much on cheap, and even if the price is high it seems often to be over-priced cheap.

It also helps that the "candles" have been running on half voltage from year 3 onward ...

One more Screech Owl from today

Decided to play around with my old Nikon lens today. I put the Nikon to PK adapter and shot with the green button. Pretty amazing lens being made in the late 1980's. It appears to be soft at 2.8 but it is probably just me not getting it into focus or shaking as I hand held all of the shots.

Shot at 2.8. A little soft.

Shot at f8 Really sharp.

One at f5.6
