Thanks! Here are some more. This first one is a 26-frame focus stack, which I think is probably a new high for me, though it's far from perfect...

And here are two photos of the same flake. The first one is an 11-frame focus stack, and the second is a single frame from the stack. In the single frame, because part of the flake is out of focus, you should be better able to see how this flake has a piece of ice sticking out perpendicularly to the surface of the main flake in its center. Pretty cool, IMHO! In the stack, because everything is in focus, it's very hard to see that unless you know what you're looking for...

Thanks to some helpful forum members, I figured out the intervalometer on my K3, this is about 140 15" exposures, stacked.

Ah,

So let's come back to this forum as a user. Been quite a while since I've logged in.
Anyway.
Here is a shot that displays the potential of the pixel shift resolution from the k3-II with the D-FA 100mm.
(click for full resolution, and let me warn you, they are big!)

And let's just add another, for the heck of it!

K 3 II + Smc Pentax D FA 100mm 2.8 macro

more of the Eurasian Eagle Owl at the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center

1

- perched in the Scotch Pine in the enclosure, no evidence of the enclosure so I could claim it was a wild bird

but I won't since North America is not in its natural range

2 + 3

perched on the wooden door to the enclosure, note the how far the bird is able to twist its neck - but neither shows the maximum of 270 degrees the bird is capable of and the netting visible in the background but not the foreground

Alright, here are a couple more from me.

Frost with the DA35 Limited:

And another flake, this one a 33-frame focus stack! Very happy with the buffer on the K-3.

The frost is great. Looks almost like a really intricate wood carving print. And of course the flakes are always beautiful.

Journey front man Arnel Pineda doing a solo show with his own band. Shot with the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8, which I continue to be less than wild about. It's fine in strong lighting but it really struggles with focus in low light or concert lighting in ways none of my Pentax lenses do when there are multiple objects/people in the frame. It's the only fast zoom I have, though, so unless somebody drops a better one in my stocking...
