I think I like the color version better than the black and white one.

Thanks. I have in work another version of black and white, but not ready yet... it is on flickr, just for testing on another display, but that is also work in progress.

Last week my daughter graduated from the LSE and to celebrate my family spend a few days in London and Oxford.
The weather was quite miserable (except the day of the graduation ceremony with clear blue sky) and taking photos was not the main purpose of the visit.
But nevertheless I could take I few shots I like.

This one was taken late afternoon looking from an "indoor" Christmas market to London's skyline.
Taken with the K3 and the SMC A 4/24-50 zoom, which is a great walk-around combination.

... same combination, Traffic at Piccadilly Circus. Quite bussy, especially during the main Christmas shopping season. You can easily see what many people believe to be the main purpose of Christmas these days ...

When my father in law retired at age 62 he started baking his own bread. He didn't purchase another loaf of bread for the remaining 35 years of his life. Here is one of his little secrets. If a recipe calls for a little sugar, use honey instead.

My wife tells me that suggestion is good for type 2 diabetics. Honey is much lower GI.

It was, thanks! The recipe is from Ken Forkish's "Flour, Water, Salt, Yeast" (the overnight 40% whole wheat) and I baked it in a dutch oven. I think half the pleasure is in the smell that permeates the whole house as the bread is baking. A second loaf is rising as I type this.

Wonderful story!

Nice tip. I reckon I'd use maple syrup myself, though I don't expect to be making sweet breads for a while. Really good bread is, IMHO, really amazing even when "plain", with just a little olive oil. Probably the next step is to use a fermented dough, then maybe an actual levain...

In the meantime, here is the latest posted snowflake shot:

Bedsprings and bottles

This is a shot of artwork made from bed springs, assorted bottles and stained glass shards by a New Mexican woman who is about 80 years old. I thought it was quite innovative. Taken with the K-3 and the 18-135 WR.
