Beautiful shot. For selfish reasons I'm sorry you haven't been out and about with the camera; I always love your work.
Thanks so much! Once the bugs start coming out, I imagine it will get more tempting. Just didn't manage to shoot a lot of snowflakes this year. BTW, Flickr also seemed to miss me and decided to select my cat photo for Explore. Because what the Internet really needs is more cat photos...!

Not for me and others in Ontario at least. Still a foot of snow on the ground and below freezing temperatures. So thank you for sharing your excellent shots, they warmed me up.

I can see you're having fun with that DA* 300mm, and producing some great photos in the process. I'm not one for wildlife photos in general, I find most of them overly PP'ed with ridiculous contrast and saturation, but I like your take on bird photos - they show a lot more character than most.

Real nice of you to say, Jonathan. Yeah just picked up the 300 from a forum member a couple weeks ago and it's definitely breathed new life into the K-3 for me. I'm not a huge one of wildlife photos myself, truth-be-told, so thanks - that's my aim. I'd much rather a shot have a story or be interesting otherwise rather than just a perfectly sharp subject showing as many feather or hairs as possible. Though there's a definite place for those as well - field guides rely on them! Just not my thing per se though. But yeah - definitely having fun with it - I have a bit of a bird obsession.

when it comes to identifying a sea lion from a seal if my info is correct

this bull California Sea Lion is at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha Nebraska

the second photo shows the bull with one of his 3 ladies

the bull would pose, the ladies kept swimming and popping to the surface and then diving

Nicely done. I don't think I've ever seen a bass player with that many effects boxes. Was he playing lead as well?
Thank you for the comment. He was a very active bassist. No he wasn't playing lead guitar. They had a lead who wast just as active however he was always heavily back lit. You can see him on the left of this scene running around. Further, you can see how hard this was to shoot with the heavy back light and no front light.
