Cross posted to the Post Your Photos, and 300 plus threads.

The beaver pond.
K-1 and DFA 28-105 @ 28mm

K-3 and Tamron 300 2.8 and F 1.7 AF adapter.

It's possible beavers do something besides eat this time of year, but I'm not sure what it might be.

There was more than beavers on the pond.

Trying out my new Sigma EX APO 70-200mm f/2.8 yesterday. I'm not a wildlife photographer but have been meaning to photograph these critters for some time and yesterday was my opportunity. In the near future they're being moved somewhere that they can be properly taken care of, and away from their current home in the tropical garden in the old Atocha train station in central Madrid.

That is a great shot that shows the 3 ocelli eyes very clearly. Most people don't know (myself included for many years) bee's have 5 eyes , even if the 3 ocelli just gauge light intensity.
Our camera's do that too with extra sensors... funny how machines sometimes end up mimicking nature to get the job done, heh.

Thanks for the likes on the previous shot folks! Not often have I hit double-digit likes on a post, I think...

Thanks! Many insects have a trio of ocelli on top of their heads. They are often dwarved by the compound eyes that surround them (e.g. in flies), but when the compound eyes are further apart, they are easier to spot. Here are a couple of the more obvious examples from older, previously posted, K-3 shots, just because...

Sorry if these images were taken with something other than a K3 (may have still been using the K5), but while we're on the subject of ocelli, with close inspection all three can be seen just about touching each other on these fly images.

Love the plump little bird out in the wet. We tend to be sympathetic, even pity the chilly-looking thing, but birds have endured such conditions for tens - correction - hundreds of millions of years.
