I love a wet-headed eagle! For a year and a half minus the coldest winter months here in the Capital Region of New York I've been casually "stalking" six adult eagles and two juveniles on the early mornings my shifts end just before the sun rises over the Hudson River in Green Island.

There are more details leading up to the photo on the Flickr post for it. This shot is one of the sharper favorites of at least 20 photos I took this day of this bird. Being pretty decent to begin with I did do some post-processing in darktable, nothing too drastic. Mainly cropped the dead space over the head and sides to frame the bird in better and tweaked the lighting to match what I saw at the time of the capture.

The head of this bird is the best part to me being wet already from the rain created that separation between the feathers that I love so much in other peoples eagle photos.

This is now my new favorite of the bird photos I've taken.

Some miscellaneous pics:
1 - a nearly demolished Sheffield Steel plant outside of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, which used to produce rebar and railroad spikes,
2 - sun catchers,
3 - the old (restored) barn from Will Rogers' birthplace ranch, near Oolagah, OK,
4 - a close-up using a legacy Pentax 70-210 macro lens.

Lots of great shots in this thread lately! Had a couple of pages to catch up after a weekend of bike camping and people are stepping up their game!

WOW! That's a macro insect image that tops every other one you've posted, in my opinion. C'est un image vraiment merveilleux!
Thanks so much! I've posted quite a few so this is indeed high praise. There's always a bit of "luck of the draw" with pollinators, because they are fairly active and move around quickly from flower to flower. You often get in focus shots with poor pose or framing, or well-framed but out of focus ones. But sometimes the planets do align.

Tess left her computer to come over and look at it. That puts it in a class above 99.9% of what's posted here.
Thanks Norm (& Tess)! Here's another shot of the same individual:

Another fine shot with very clear look at the three extra eyes on that bee.

The bugs are out, it's tough to hold still long enough to get much.

K-3 and DFA 100 macro.
