I'm fascinated with the Middle East, and have never been any closer than West Germany. Now we are a bit too old and worn out to do excessive traveling.

I take students every summer for 6 weeks, 3 weeks of intensive historical geography and then 3 weeks excavating on an archaeological site. With all the dust of the latter, especially, the weather sealing of the Pentax bodies has been a life-saver. The Middle East is certainly an acquired travel taste, not for everyone, that's for sure. But my experiences in Israel and Jordan, even during wartime a few years ago, has been rich.

M33 at 1016mm focal length and M27 at 1300mm focal length. The K3 is a great astro camera.

The layering of smoke over the sun's disk really makes this image. Excellent capture. Thanks.

The sun's rim-lighting of the archaeologists really makes this an excellent shot. Thanks.
