A lovely sharp shot, however, to make the helicopter look like a real plane, not a model on a string, you need to blur rotors or propellers. To do this a shutter speed of around 1/250 is best.
Just trying to turn your shots at a very prestigious airshow from ok, to amazing.

Here's 2 shots as an example, the first shows movement,1/160 sec. In the second, although the Spits were taxiing, they appear to be stationary, due to early morning and not thinking, 1/1500 sec.

actually this is what I wanted to achieve, I was attempting to freeze the action and I was aware of the results. here is a shot I did a couple years ago and it turned into a great shot....

when you are trying to hold steady with 450mm at 1/250 sec, it seams about impossible to get sharp shots and show the movement of the rotary blade on the helicopter, I imagine some practice will be needed

Exactly right! Yes it's tough to hold the camera steady and follow the action, you will get to delete a lot of photos, I know I do. Here's one from this afternoon.

Sorry, our modem cut out at the crucial time!

Ahead of the game but I thought that it would be nice to have a dedicated thread to view the sample shots taken by owners of the new K3 .... all in one thread.

It would also be nice to see what lens(es) is (are) being used and any specifics (EXIF).

Ideally, as rawr suggested, this thread should be somewhat the equivalent of the "No more tests - Just pictures" referred here:https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/115-pentax-k-5/123731-no-more-tests-just-pictures.html

If this is going to be a redundant thread , please mod's : dismiss it.

Cheers!

I took delivery of my K3 + 18-50 last week. Grabbed a couple of shots of my horticultural endeavours, then went walkabout my locale over the sunny/overcast weekend. these were taken using AF mode, Aperture priority.

I have ordered a Adaptall 2 > Pentax adaptor, and will try my Tamron lenses on manual/focus peaking when possible.

thoughts/comments appreciated!
