rather than fiddling with the top dial, wouldn't it be great if the AF button or the Raw/Fx button could be an AF mode switch?
maybe pentax can put that in their next firmware upgrade, because I can see a whole lot of practicality in your approach.
I just don't see me being able to switch modes that quickly if a bird takes flight from a branch for example. I'd love to be able to switch mode's back and forth with the push of a button
I change many things going from BIT (bird in tree) to BIF modes: AF-S to AF-C, center point to 27-point expandable, 1/1000s shutter speed (normally 1/350 to 1/500s for BIT), matrix metering to CW, SR Off, Ev comp +0,5, Medium to Hi FPS.
A bird that launches from a branch is tough to capture, no matter what the circumstances. If I think it may fly while I'm shooting, I'll try to switch to BIF mode beforehand.
PS I have the Raw/Fx button configured to switch SR.
