Premium K-3 silver edition, is it silver?

Premium K-3 silver edition, is it silver? Of course I know it's not real silver. So what is it? Plastic? Some kind of metal? Anyone know?

The whole body is metal. I'll tell you more about the silver finish when mine arrives....

If it's the same treatment as the K-5 Silver Edition then it's polished metal with some kind of powder coating. My K-5 is slightly scrathed at the bottom plate and I can clearly see that it's made of metal. It's almost the same color as the polisehd finish, but kind matte.

Remember back in the 70's and 80's when an 'all black' finish was an extra cost option and the 'silver' finish was standard and lower in price?

Question to those in the know. Is the grip included in the "up cost" of the Special/Silver Edition?

Thanx,
-steve

Thanx. Forgot to ask the 1st time. Anyone know how long the Silver's run will be? I'd prefer to wait to pick a K-3 up after the 1st price drop. But if the Silver will be an actual limited quantity, I may have to bite the bullet.

Sold out in Australia, think there still might be some in Europe, not sure about USA, but still a few on eBay for $1699- and $2699-.
Might have to be quick as only 2000 was made of the Silver Edition.
Hope this helps

Yep. As a little kid, I thought that my dad's ME super looked cooler in black, but it was more costly as you say.

Well at least Pentax can do silver. Having seen the FX, for Nikon black has to be the only option.

For now I will stick with the MX-1 for that brass experience.
