Pentax K-3 Night Video Test

Absolutely nothing wrong with this video footage from the K-3.
Clearly shot by someone who knows what they are doing.

Camera :- Pentax K3
Lens :- 50MM 1.8 (72MM on 24x12 APS-C Crop Sensor)
Picture Style :- Standard
--

I'm excited again

Did you ever doubt there was anything seriously wrong?

Looking at 1080p and full screen, it's really quite sharp. I mean, my videos with the k-01 never felt as sharp as this one. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong...

Pentax K3 Night Video Test (Low Light Night Video Test) - YouTube

Clearly shot in a way that avoids any proper testing of the issues people are mainly complaining about (shake reduction and jello). 95% tripod mounted and no horizontal panning, hardly a true test of the video capabilities of *any* camera, to be fair.

That's hardly a criticism. Most serious DSLR videos (and movies generally I suspect) have a good proportion of their footage shot using a tripod, except maybe GoPros.

But its capabilities on that type of shot haven't been questioned much and I'm sure it's fine for that (if the HD files use a high enough bitrate).

The question is, for everyone (professionals included) who likes to take video handheld or to pan, how good is K-3 at that? This video doesn't help anyone to decide on that; I wish it did.

Seems to be OK on night video though.

The one thing I think we can be happy about is it looks like the bit rate has been jacked up.

Fingers crossed.
