I was being a little economical with the truth but not much.
Before I became a pensioner, the Lipitor and Xalatan were $36 each per script. Once I got my pension card, scripts dropped to $6 each (maximum). However, we've gone over the govt. threshold of (called the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme Safety Net) this year in prescription costs ($354) so all scripts are now free. The local doctor and pathology labs cost nothing as they bulk bills the govt. (I can use any doctor or lab, not one set by the govt.) Specialists still charge like wounded bulls but we get a lot of the cost back from the govt. Oh, that applies to anyone in Australia, not just pensioners,
