It was fairly well attended; around 40-50?

They had the 20-40 mounted on a few K-3s. It is a thing of beauty in the hand...

They had 5 silver K3 for sale last night. The lucky door prize of a K3 and lens was won by a chap who didn't own a Pentax but had been thinking of buying one.

I scored the last silver unit on the night!
I had originally bought the black body & grip, after being told that they were out of the silver.
But after the door prize was given away, I was asked by the salesman if I was still interested in the silver.
They must have only realised then that the door prize was black. So I gladly exchanged the black for silver.

It was a great night. Had a ball; beer was flowing, food was being served, and fellow Pentaxians to converse with. DigiDirect also handed out goody bags.
Even met a few forum members. I'm hopeless with names, so I won't embarrass myself by trying to remember theirs.
Hello to the bloke from the Sunshine Coast. He picked up his second silver unit on the night. We grabbed fresh beers and walked away from the event very happy.

There were two K3s, with the 20-40 mounted, floating around.
Got a chance to play with one. The 20-40 felt very nice. The zoom ring felt like my Takumar 50 1.4.

Oh, and I'm loving the K3. Coming from the K5, the focusing feels so much better imo.
btw, this is my first post, so forgive me for any mistakes.

Cheers,
Julian

Waahh. I'm still not seeing any pictures posted, even on PentaxSnaps on FB.
An event full of photographers, and no pix. Just doesn't seem right.

My wife booked me into a nearby hotel in the city rather than have me come home on the train late after the event.

My K-5/AF540FGZ combination decided not to work well last night so my flash pix are way under-exposed.

Hmm, some of my pix are OOF. I fell very heavily on my way to the launch and crashed down on my side and my camera bag. I may have cracked a rib.

Anyway, here are few. I wonder if, with a bit of super glue.......?

The stuff laid out on the hotel bed was the contents of the goodies bag we all received.

Some new lenses (also in black). In the crowd pic, I think the bloke on the very right is the K-3 winner. The flash didn't work properly so I've used LR auto tone to extract the image from the blackness.

I had quite long chats with both Malcolm Kennedy (principal of CRK) and his son, Clem (separately) - I hope I wasn't in my cups .

They are acutely aware of B&H and Adorama pricing and try to match. They also mentioned that Pentax has the greatest number of lenses available for APS-C of any manufacturer.

CRK was founded in 1934 by Malcolm's father, Clem. They were the first and are longest lasting Pentax foreign distributor (since 1954).

I wonder if, next year, we'll see another Pentax party to celebrate CRK having been with Pentax for 60 years and for the 50th Anniversary of the Spotmatic (which Malcolm mentioned to me). I'll go!

Thank you very much for the photos p38. Well done.
Interesting to see some actual Pentax users They don't look too strange at all.

Good to see you got the chance to meet Malcolm and Clem. Many of us have only dealt with the Kennedys via email, phone or the web.

And sorry about the cracked rib. You took one for the cause.

Jeez, Khos, did you have to scare me with the first pic of you with the girls?

I really like your pic of the K-3.
