Got an invitation to the Official K-3 Launch in Sydney (Australia)

It arrived today, an invite to the K-3 launch

There's a link in the email to print the boarding pass and to register for the event. I've never been to one before. Maybe I'll go.

Cool. How did you score the invite?
If you do go along, have a drink and a nibble for me.

Dunno.

I did buy a K-5 from CR Kennedy directly when they were clearing them and have sent both my Q and K-7 back to them for repair. And I bought some focussing shims for the K-7 a week ago. Oh, and I bought the Pentax GPS from them.

Oh, and I sent my Spotmatic back for repair a couple of times in 1968-69.

That probably did it.
Do you still have the same email address you had in 1968-69

Yep. And the same mobile phone number too.

I got it too. I've bought a few things from CRK over the years...

Only I won't be making it. Those of you going, enjoy.

Nah, we used telex back then but I can't remember the number. The answerback was OTC Moree.. Head Office's telex no. was AA20591. Crikey, how did I remember that? Maybe because I sent hundreds of telexes when I worked in Head Office in the 70s and 80s.

The post about the event from from the DigiDirect blog says 'special attendees pricing' [on gear I presume], 'abundance of great giveaways', attendees will receive a 'gift bag filled with amazing presents', 'drinks and canapes will be provided', and a 'limited edition K-3 with grip will be drawn at the end of the night'.

Wow. All that seems to be missing are girls jumping out of cakes, fireworks, and dancing bears. Otherwise they are pulling out all the stops. Great venue too.

Got my invite, via DigiDirect; iirc I bought my Sigma 50/1.4 and 17-50/2.8 from them. Too bad I'm no longer in Sydney, would've been nice to rock up and play with a K-3

Does anyone have any idea whether there might be silver FA 31/1.8 bargains available?
I'd love to get one of those.

CRK (dcexpert) has 1 on ebay for $1099. I don't know if you would get one cheaper at the K3 launch.
