Very nice! Any additional post-shot processing, or is this the camera's internal product?

Nice! How did you PP the RAW? When I took it into Lr5 it stripped all the processing away.

Does the K-3 ship with updated DCU software? That might be programmed to read the RAW file?

Don't they open in Adobe Raw Converter if you use the DNG option in camera? I thought that was the whole idea of Pentax including the DNG file format, that they would open in any version of Photoshop, Lightroom, Elements etc.

DNG files are not compressed and carry the demosacing data within them and carries a 'ready to go' Jpeg for generating thumbnails etc within it.

Chris

EDIT: Pentax K5 and K-01 DNG files open in the freeware CS2 download which is way out of date for these cameras, they also open in Microsoft's RAW codex for W7, it opens them as a thumbnail and not as an icon on all my K5 and K-01 DNG files when you use My Computer to browse your files. None of the above work on PEF files.

At least my K5 compresses the dng files, however the old K10 did not.

What I've found is that the three exposures are bundled together by the camera into one BIG DNG file. The Software that is supplied with the K-3 has a function to extract these three raw images and save them separately. Once you do that, they could be used by Luminance HDR, Photomatix, Photoshop, etc. to roll your own HDR.
To get the one previewed by the camera you have to "develop" it to a JPG or TIFF, but that won't be a high-bit HDR.
Still looking for more info on this feature.
