Does the Flucard run warm?

Hi guys,

I am trying out the Flucard on my K-3. When I withdrawl the card from the camera, I find that the card runs very warm to the touch. I thought something went wrong and inserted the same card into a Canon S95. Same thing. the card runs warm.

On contrary, my Eye-Fi card runs normal. Not warm at all.

Did I get a defective card or I am just paranoid?

Thanks

Did not know the FLUcard was available yet...... I don't think it is listed except as pre-order in the states. No idea if it should be hot, though I would expect some heat if it is working. Too hot though? That does not sound good.

In my failed attempts to use the Flucard... yes, it gets pretty damn hot.

Thanks jatrax. That is alarming to say the least. I have since removed the flucard from my K-3 until I can figure this out why it is getting so hot.

is it any faster than the eye-fi? I was hoping they would add 802.11ac support instead of making yet another 802.11n one channel card :-P

Boy are you lucky getting your silver so soon.
I'm still waiting for CR Kennedy to send me mine which no doubt will be after their official launch on 19 November in Sydney

A hot FLU card would be a bonus when winter shooting at -30C and colder.

Yes. I was very surprised too when CRK make the delivery yesterday. It would appear that CRK sent the package out on Thursday or something. It takes one day to reach me in Perth. I am amazed.

I am sure you will get yours soon. Patience is a virtue

When you catch a FLU, your temperature goes UP.

Hi,

I just saw this thread because I've had the same experience. I just removed it from the camera and it wasn't just warm, it was close to too hot to hold. This can't be right?

As with Raider, I've received it with the Silver K3 and have been trying it out. I also have an EyeFi Pro and while both are little buggy, the FluCard doesn't have the same IQ.

Just on the point raised about whether Raider's was the Pentax FluCard, I must confess, I thought that was what I was receiving when I bought on the Pentax Australia site. I've been planning to call CR Kennedy and with this heat problem, i'll be doing that Monday.

@Frank. I will be keen to know what CRK says about the heat problem too.

I have tried the card on all my camera and have also tried to plug into a SD card reader to the PC. On all instances the card gets hot very quickly and you are right....it really does get too hot to hold.
