Silver K-3 unboxing video

I'm no videographer and my voice sounds really strange (K-01 internal mic)

Setup to upload time was about 15 minutes total

But hopefully someone finds it useful...and I should get a chance to mount some of my other silver lenses on it this weekend and take some pics/videos.

I was surprised that the D-BG5 grip did not have a plastic cover over the exposed pins. Don't they bend easily?

It does have the cover, just that I had already "installed" it inside the grip when I made the video

I'm tempted by the silver edition - if I can still get hold of it - but I am concerned about the silver finish looking too plasticky. It looks OK in you video though. Is the surface adonised like the FA ltds? or is it quite smooth?

Yes, the silver is beautiful. But if I got the silver my wife would for sure know that I had a new toy. Very tempting though.

It really is gorgeous camera.

So to answer the question of whether the body is "cheap looking" or "smooth," I'd say "no." Obviously the plastic bits are a bit smoother, but Pentax has used metallic flakes or something so the finish doesn't appear to be "flat" plastic. The look and feel really matches the FA Limiteds well.

Here are some pics under 3000K light that I tried to make look as close to real life as possible. When viewing them, only judge the portion directly in the center of the frame (ie, the 43 shot has some blue cast on the bottom due to the TV reflection).

I find the FA* lens to have a slight yellow-ish cast

Thank you so much for the video and pics. I know it sounds crazy-but my heart was pounding in anticipation when you were about to take the camera out of the bubble wrap! I can't wait to do the unboxing of this exact package tomorrow!

So no Flu Card inside the box? Did I read somewhere that it was for someone else inside the K-3 Silver box?

I think some of our Australian members (Bob?) reported getting a third party flu card with the silver k3.

Cheers for the pics Ryan! It's a very nice looking camera. Now I just have to decide if I can a) afford the cost* (need to trade in my K-7 and BG4 grip) and b) still get hold of one!

*£400 more than the K-3 black version without the grip (an accessory I'm not 100% I *need* except when handholding the Bigma.
