No more Extended Bracketing for K3?

I just got the cam yesterday, till now I still can't find this Extended Bracketing mode, is it removed from K3?

The K-3 manual makes no mention of it. K-5II seems to be the last model to have that feature. It's not lurking somewhere in the menus? [I don't have a K-3].

Yes... all our brilliant ideas for bracketing AA were for nought...

Is this what you are looking for?
The manual on page 51 shows that the K-3 can be set to 2 to 3 or to 5.

Thanks rawr, I've downloaded K3 pdf file, search thru all the pages couldnt find a hit for "extended".
Did the same for K5, instantly found it.
I've went thru K3's menu numerous time and each time I'm disappointed.

Sigh* Wonder what's the reason Ricoh removed this settings?

I did some googling... extended bracketing is where you can bracket things like saturation, hue, contrast.. etc...

I don't really understand it since I've never used it...

Thanks for the effort to go thru the manual, this is not what I wanted.
The one on pg 51 is the One Push Auto-Bracketing.
Extended Bracketing does not only apply to Exposure (High/Low key adj), it also applies to Hue, Satuaration, White Balance, Sharpness and Contrast.

I have never used it myself, but I imagine it could be useful if you shoot jpeg.

Can't image why it's been removed.

I've never actually understood or used the extended bracketing 'features' of the K-5 (or the K-7 for that matter) if it has been discontinued in the K-3 I wont miss it, and would probably not have even noticed, except for this post. I shoot almost exclusively in raw, so I guess it doesn't really apply to my usage.

How do you guys use it? what tips or circumstances for use can you pass on?

Yes that precluded the point for using extended bracketing on the 5's, for me. Obviously were AA type to have been included then I would like it back. I assume its removal means they're stating how much better AWB and Prime III is.

I've used it once or twice for actual photography beyond just trying it out.

It's moderately useful if you're intimate with the JPEG engine and have detailed experience of what all the settings can do for you, and you need or like or insist on having finished shots out of the camera.

I remember shooting a family winter outing in ice, snow, sun and thin high clouds where I could foresee that every shot would need a different contrast setting. So I tried out extended bracketing on contrast. Back home I could pick my preferred shots from three contrast variations of every exposure, which was OK I guess. OTOH, I also had to delete 3x more than usual and my card could only hold 1/3 of its usual exposures.

I could also imagine bracketing on contrast when shooting in fog and alternating between close and distant subjects. Far shots need more contrast boost than near shots in fog.

Or you could bracket on tint (green-magenta) in gyms under fluorescent lights or under green foliage.

Extended bracketing is not that great and I think it's taken out to simplify and to free up space for other stuff on the control panel. Most people also prefer to tinker with contrast, saturation, tint etc. in post. Extended bracketing is aimed at perfectionists, and perfectionists already shoot RAW.

Regards,
--Anders.
