K3 Video - Two questions

I tried the video on the K3 for the first time today and it resulted in me being puzzled on two points.

1) I found that what I was filming could only be seen on the rear monitor and the viewfinder was blacked out.
Is it not possible to use the viewfinder for filming ?
2) Does AF.C focus tracking not work whilst filming. ? If not is there any way to refocus whilst shooting.?

1. No, how would the light get the sensor otherwise?
2. There is no continuous video AF. To focus, hold the AF button. It's slow, buy eventually it should lock on anything stationary

Both these answers above apply to the K-30, K-50, and K-500 as well.

It's a DSLR...AFC won't work great on any of them except maybe Canon's 70D w/ their new CDAF sensor sites.
Don't use it this way...look up rack focusing. Or get a camcorder or P&S w/ lots of DOF...

.....
Sorry to "hijack' you, Adam.

I add that "It's VERY FRUSTRATING slow"
Therefore we'd better to press AF on desired focus point before pressing video button. That way is faster than Pentax way

You can always manually focus by turning the focusing ring on the lens.
