Nice though, especially since they're so cropped. Not sure I've ever had 6 shots in a row as consistently in focus with the K-5 or its predecessors.
I would disagree. Very likely while panning the subject moved out of the center point focus. There is some skill involved, especially getting the initial focus, but once acquired the af logic will maintain focus even if the subject moves around in the focus point array while panning. The K-5 under those circumstances would give you a focused shot of the sky.
Yes, something coming towards or away from you is more challenging, but I've found up to a limit it has no problem. If Travis had his body set to focus priority the distance that the bird flew in these six shots as well as the change in the distance away from the shooter is not trivial.
