Some birds. Contrast increased. Highlights reduced on the treecreepers. Default LR sharpening of 25. No noise reduction.

ISO 2,500. 300mm+1.7x, f7.1. 1/100 sec. Cropped, about third of the frame

ISO 2,000. 300mm f4. 1/60 sec. Cropped, about half of the frame

Stunning quality for such high ISO. With the K30 a lot of denoising would be necessary to even get in this proximity.

Very promising results. Time to trade in one K-7 I think.

Very nice shots. These are treacherously difficult to shoot because they blend in and tend to stay in the shadows.

Looks like the DA*300, second shot with a teleconverter.

Can't wait- just ordered my K3 today!

I was wondering whether the K3 would actually provide "just as good" high ISO images vs. those of the K5/K5II/s and I am very pleased to see those pics of yours.
There has been quite a bit of "noise" on this forum about the amount of noise from the K3 at high ISO.

Congrats!

P.S.: would I be right to assume that you were using the DA*300/4 ? Just wondering.

First one looks slightly FF'd.

LR's noise reduction has gotten a lot better...you can barely make out any in the 2nd shot :-)
