K3 Bigma Katana and 5.65 Miles

So this past weekend, I went to the mountains of North Georgia.
Lots of great Ice and Water pictures!

On Friday afternoon I set up my Bigma, Katana Gimbal and the K3 at the Chestatee Overlook 34.665002,-83.98277

I was looking for some shots of Birds in Flight against the backdrop of the mountains, and when none showed up, I just took some snaps of what I could see.

I took this shot.

When I got home, I started to play around with the detail and what was possible with the K3.
As I zoomed in closer, I wanted to verify where I took the picture, and I used the rock formations in the pictures and looked at the rock formations in Google Earth.
I know, I should have used my O-GPS-1, but I was looking for birds, not what I found next.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw THIS.

A person, wearing jeans with a black shirtless top!!!!

This is the location I zoomed in on.

The distance is 5.65 MILES!!!!

It turns out that the person is standing on the top of Blood Mountain, on the Appalachian Trail. 34.737065,-83.93617

WOW!!!!

The K3, Bigma and Katana, on a clear day are spectacular.
500mm
ISO-100
f.9.0
1/250 sec
SR - OFF on K3, ON on Bigma

Looks a little blurry to me, cannot make out the logo on his shirt. Were you using mirror lock up?

2 sec delay. I think the heft of the Katana and tripod comes into play here.
The mass of the Katana makes holding everything rock steady!
I mean, I got that kind of detail from ISO 100 and 1/250.
That's amazing.

Just out of curiosity, the crop of the man in black shirt - how blown up is that? I am assuming it a crop blown up because I'm seeing the individual pixels.

Definitely a crop.
How blown up?
I don't know, but it's at the limit of 24mp for sure.

The Katana, being ROCK steady, is definitely a contributing factor in the shot.
The Bigma at full 500mm is a big lens that needs stable control.

Lots of good things to say about the Katana, K3 and Bigma.
