As regards Interval Movie Record, from p. 54 of the manual:
When [Start Interval] is set to [Now], the first picture is taken.
Instant Review is displayed, and then the monitor turns off
I think if the interval was shorter than the review display time, the display would stay on all the time. There's an option in Camera icon, menu 4, Instant Review. You should be able to stop the instant review occurring. But I'm not sure if this option affects the rear display in Interval Movie Record.

Dan.

As said by dosdan, when in Movie mode, go to Camera menu #4. Set Display Time to OFF.

On mine the display stays off for the entire length of the timelapse.

I think the alignment has to be precise (within microns). So it's not a DIY project.

BTW, this sounds like a warranty, rather than a user fault. Unless you left the camera in the blazing sun for 2 hours, no mode of normal operation should be able to overheat the camera. There should be thermal cutoffs and protection in the design, like there were in earlier implementations of LV.

I wonder if it was a firmware/hardware issue where the camera entered an unstable mode of operation?

Just talk to CR Kennedy, our Aussie consumer law states one should expect goods one buys to work for a reasonable amount of time, some part of a $1300 high end camera fell off after a month's sure(not abuse) sure doesn't sound normal to me! A little tip, if you want to get their attention quickly, post the problem on their FB page Pentax Snap Australia, plus call their office in Melbourne directly, and keep call back to check on progress.

My K5 would turn off the screen if it got even close to hot so I'm wondering if this is not in the K3 firmware yet?, it was not in the sun, although the rear screen did have a destinct left hand side fuzzy screen. And i mean it only effect the left side , there was a sharpe line were you cound see the differences in the normal screen and fuzzy area? Weird and as mentioned before this faded as it cooled down

That's what I'd do.
Walk in, show them the camera and the bit that fell out of your shiny new silver K-3. I'm pretty sure that CRK will just accept it for repair on the spot. (Make sure you bring the box the camera was packed in, so they can easily bundle it up and send it down to CRK HQ in Melbourne for repairs. Plus of course bring the purchase receipt etc).

I have had nothing but stellar support and interaction with CRK through their website and via Pentax Snaps FB page. https://www.facebook.com/PentaxSnaps
Corey is generally the guy who deals with customer support and he's a top bloke to deal with. I'd definitely not even think about trying to repair what seems like a 100% manufacturers fault.
Unless you dropped the camera, then that's what it is a manufacturers fault and is covered under replacement warranty much less repair.

Im not even sure this is a "repair" kind of deal. Depends on your local laws, of course, but I would try to get an exchange instead of a repair. That way you dont have to wait.
