K3 MENU button

Any other K3 owners notice the stenciling on the MENU button is defective?

I just noticed this on mine; not a big deal - at least it hasn't fallen off !

Love the new camera; great pics.

Nope. Everything is amazingly stable and solid on mine so far. This is my fifth Pentax DSLR and they have all been remarkably solid and hard to harm despite being taken frequently backpacking in the desert and canyons. Hope yours is an exception.

Yes, however I don't think I'd want to risk losing the weather sealing just to have the button replaced. On top of that, there's the 3 week wait without a camera.

Has it been rubbing against something in your camera bag?

It doesn't say. RICOHH or PENTAXX does it?

No; just a minor cosmetic blemish

The text on both the info and menu buttons is rubbing off on mine. I also am reluctant to request warranty repair for the same reasons as Tom.
I have a K5 that I've carried/stored in the same way for a lot longer and it's not showing any text degradation on those buttons.

The bottom half of the text is rubbing off on both the Info and Menu buttons on my K-3, but considering how many miles I have hiked with it hanging around my neck, I am not surprised.

Mine is still in good shape, though the printed labels on my K10D were getting a little thin when I sold it. FWIW, the keys labels on my Lenovo laptop are wearing off after only about a year of ownership. And yes, the Lenovo did cost as much as a K-3. They and Ricoh must use the same print shop. Grrr...

[OFFTOPIC] well. this is "completely unacceptable" and you should be "extremely disappointed" with this "recurring problem that Pentax doesn't seem to give a damn about", as is tradition in PentaxForums [/OFFTOPIC]

as with the buttons - mine are keeping up pretty well; but to send it in because of paint rubbed off.. it's your regular wear and tear, if I'd be a Pentax serviceman, I'd send it back as-is out of pure principle. guys, c'mon. it's a TOOL, it's getting some use, it shows it. you should be proud!

Perhaps this problem of text rubbing off the buttons is what is holding up development of a Full Frame camera from Pentax.

I've had a black KX for ages. Shortly after I got it paint started rubbing off the edges and corners. It never occurred to me to send it back for warranty replacement of the brassy top and bottom plates.

Silly me.

Serious topics only... please. I'm just glad buttons don't fall off anymore.

Well, the thread started december 15 so the camera could only be a month old when it happened. I would say that is, at least, a little serious.
