Ok, but my question is if anyone NOT using a grip has had this problem.
I don't use a grip, and wasn't using any accessories unless you count the Sigma 70mm macro lens I was using at the time.

Oh, I thought you said the cause had to be V 1.01 because it never happened to you with V 1.0.

It's not the grip or firmware 1.01.

The mirror-flutter thing happened to me early on, with firmware 1.00 (as first issued). It's only happened once, no grip attached. So to my mind, it's not grip-related or firmware 1.01 related. I hope a coming firmware version 1.02 fixes it; it's an annoyance, and appears to be happening randomly. It does seem to be a generic issue with the K-3, as quite a few have reported it. Don't send your camera back to exchange it for another, as the new one will probably have the same issue. Pentax needs to either fix the firmware or address a pretty serious issue that may need a physical fix for a lot of cameras out there in customer's hands. Either way, I hope they are on this. I'd hate to be taking a critical shot and have this happen again. It won't speak well for Richo/Pentax if they don't FIX IT and soon.

It seems that after the update the RAW files (PEF) shot using M-AWB are rendered "correctly" * in various raw converters (SilkyPix DS 5 Pro, DxO 9 Pro, Lightroom 5.2, 5.3). I cannot state this with a 100% confidence, as I am yet to test this on purpose. The results were obtained from regular daily shooting.

* the difference between AWB and MAWB is marginal. Yet in OOC JPG files it is clearly visible.

Could someone hook up a HDMI monitor while in video record mode, and let us know if you can turn off all the on-screen display items, and if the video image fills the entire HDMI screen ?

Would like to know if v1.01 fixes this, so the camera has Clean Feed Out.

Thanks in advance.

No electronic compass or navigation with the GPS?

I've noted that when the GPS unit is used, unlike on the K-5, the electronic compass and navigation features are not there. Anyone else having this experience? With the GPS on, go to the record menu, bottom of the second page - GPS. All that seems to be there is calibration and astrotracking. This is even after calibration - no compass, no navigation aid.

Thanks, I finally figured out that the compass is available, but not the navigation function.

HDR capture processing does move along somewhat faster. I estimated 7-8 seconds after shutter press to get a review picture on the screen. I don't know what it was before, but I recall that it seemed to take a much longer time.

John
I was getting about 10" for an HDR1 capture before the update.....about 7-8" after the update.

The 1.01 upgrade didn't change any settings on my K-3, or at least none that I noticed. For sure I had AF fine adjustment for five lenses and they were all kept , the AF2 mode and the Raw+ settings as well. I didn't check each and every setting but I suppose that since these ere kept most probably everything else was as well.
I hadn't set any user modes yet so I cannot tell whether those would have changed.

Would it be useful to update the k3 to this new firmware or would it be wiser to wait for the next one? Since there are so many different stories on how good or bad the new firmware has been, I thought it would be wise to ask the seniors on this site for more advice on this matter. Thanks in advance!

There have been no specific ill-effects of this version AFAIK, I know of no reason why you wouldn't want to upgrade. There are still some things that haven't been addressed, but nothing that got worse.
