K-3 Sony 32GB Class 10 Memory Card Error

I have several Sony 32GB Class 10 Memory Cards that all display Memory Card Error when inserted in my K-3. This occurred using both the original firmware and the updated Firmware v1.01. These cards work perfectly in my K5ii. I have tried reformatting these cards but they still display Memory Card Error whenever I insert them in the camera.

Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a solution?

UHS-1 Issue?

Do the cards work on your Computer with a USB 3.0 Reader?
I have a Pretec Class 16 Card that has problems with writing in one Transcend USB 3.0 Reader.
It supports UHS-1 reading but not writing.

Yes, the cards read and write on my computers with USB 3.0 and work perfectly in my K5ii.

There are other threads on this forum complaining about Sony memory cards giving error messages. A search should bring some of them up. It would seem to be a card issue, not a fault with your K-3.

I for one won't buy another Sony memory card. I've had one just stop working right in the middle of a shoot. Mine gave me Memory card electronically locked error. Sony did send me a new card and it's working but I don't have a lot of confidence in it now.

Enough threads that I have stayed away from all of those Sony card bargains that have been offered over that last several months. Those issues are probably why they have been such bargains.

Not only a sony fault I had a harma ( rebadged transcend) do the same thing in one K5 Body but not the other or in a K 30 also got it replaced.

In my case the camera did not recognise the card was in the camera.

Hi, I had exactly the same problem with Smasung SDHC UHS-1..... But I fixed it!!!
You have to try to upload the firmware to version 1.0.3, despite Ricoh does not indicate this problem in the version changes......

This is the link to download the firmware:

Latest K-3 Firmware Update : Software Downloads | RICOH IMAGING

You will find also the operating instruction.

Bye

The 1.0.3 update fixes it...

I can attest that the 1.0.3 firmware update fixes something with the Sony cards. I have a Sony 16GB SDHC "40Mb/s" U 10 card, and it gave me a memory error no matter what I did in my new K3 (with 1.0.0 firmware). I just updated it to 1.0.3, and lo and behold, the card no longer complains when inserted in the camera, and appears to format well. Certainly, *something* was fixed in the firmware...

I have the opposite problem to everyone here.

My K3 worked fine with firmware 1.0.0, but after upgrading to firmware 1.1.0 I have an issue where all but 1 of my SD cards do not work in slot 1. The cards are mainly Sandisk ultra 32gb class 10, the only working one is a cheap generic 64gb class10. The odd thing is that they all still work in slot 2.

Has anyone else had this problem? Or got any advise?

Thank you
Colin

Yay!
My Sony 32gb class 10 now works in my K-3!!!
It worked fine in my K-5 as well so I knew there was something screwy in the K-3.
Now it's all good after firmware upgrade.
