Price of K-3 dropping

The price of the K-3 seems to be all over the place...I've seen it a few weeks ago as high as $1650 and recently saw it as low a $1349 for the kit with the 18-135 lens.
That seems pretty crazy for just a 3 week period.
What's going on with camera prices??

After Christmas inventory reduction. I had heard one can get them (body only) for as low as $1130, but I'm not sure if that's new or slightly used.

Thank you,

I've since added the DA* 16-50mm F2.8 which is my main go to lens now.

I have the DA 12-24 f4 coming in soon. ....how do you like yours?
I was debating between that and the fisheye but decided that the 12-24 would be more useful for me.
I love wide lenses and haven't had one since I sold all my Nikon equipment back in the '70's.

Prices going all over the place is pretty normal for an October intro of a camera. High initially, low on black Friday, back to moderate, back to low on Dec 26, back to moderate is standard operating procedure for camera bodies.

And let's hope they keep going down for the consumer's sake. It will make the camera that much more accessible to a greater portion of the population.

In the US, the MAP price has yet to drop. Authorized dealers have been trying to make it more attractive by including freebies, however!

Really like the 12-24mm. I've used it for concert photography and it was great. You'll love yours...pretty sharp.

DA 12-24mm on my K200D (can't wait to try it on my K3)

I just picked mine up today for $1149, body only at the local bricker-and-mortar. Pretty happy with that price, even though it will eventually go down, and down, and down, and down... and down...

Personally, I don't see digital cameras as a material investment, which is to say the idea that an unopened silver K-3 will be worth more money in a year than today is nonsense to me. II saw a post somewhere where someone planned to buy a K-3 and leave it unopened until it was worth a boat load of money. I laughed until I cried.)

Digital cameras, like cars, are a productivity investment and the money goes to obtain a tool that increases some type of output or facilitates in other ways an increased yield. So the price of the K-3 is destined to drop and, by 2015, will likely be under $850 for the body only. That's how the K-7, K-5, and K-5II/s bodies (and almost all other tech ever) go.
