Hi Guys,

Is Interval Movie Record equivalent to Time lapse?

Yep, that is synonymous with time lapse. The only difference is that the camera does all the work with the movie record.
Which camera are you seeing this in? Optio?

Good chance he's asking about the K-3 ?

My experience with Pentax's implementation of timelapse movie is the results are jerky.
I prefer to create the movie from the stills myself.

I tested the 4K version and found it to do a god job. More testing will be done to see if the shutter/aperture/ISO can be set as wanted.

What's the best software to playback the 4K files? I tried to run some on my windows vista system and they choke. Good chance I need more memory or a new PC. They look great in camera!

Do you have a 4K monitor? If not, it's fairly pointless as you'll never see 4K quality on a PC screen.
And it is the processor the needs the grunt, not more memory.

I tried some 4K timelapses, and it brought my computer to it's knees when I did some smoothing and rendering in After Effects. I have a pretty good machine, so that says something.

For me, letting the camera do this is like letting the camera make a JPG instead of a RAW... If I take the photos myself and put them together I can control the output, do more and varied things. If the camera makes the jpg or the video, it's pretty much done and my options are more limited.

Cute feature, but not really for a DSLR in my opinion.

I didn't say it was for amateurs or that you could not get good results with it. Just pointed out the fact that you are limiting yourself with it.

But this wasn't an Interval Movie, the guy shot RAW for this timelapse and used 2x 128Gb cards (one in each slot)
High-Def(????): PENTAX K-3??????????

Generally the camera remains in one position for true time lapse recordings, what you have there is similar to a sped up dashcam movie.

What is the difference? Time Laps is a sped up version of time or?
