Don't forget the earthquake and tsunami. That threw everyone and everything off, but especially Canon. Then there was the Thai flooding which was a very big deal for Nikon. Sensor production was interrupted. Some say a portion of the APS sensor production capacity was just junked and replaced with FF capacity using insurance and government grant money.

I'm kind of on the fence myself, however I've been one to intentionally buy the flagship close to the end of its life cycle because my skills never match the full capabilities of the camera anyway. It also saves me some money because I've been lucky enough to pick them up for close to the price of the model below it. So I'm either gonna pick up a k5IIs and move the k5 to backup body or sell k5 and get a k3...
Keep us posted on what you end up with...

Well, I couldn't resist...went to B n H today and picked it up. At first glance, I'm loving it. This weekend I'll get out to really give it a test. Picked up the Limited 20-40 while I was there too.
Here's a shot with my K5 from yesterday at a frozen water fall near me. It's been very COLD in the NY/NJ area.

Yes it is. It's been frigid around here for weeks.

And again. Wonderful. What's the name of this technique used in the second shot?

Basically I had the camera on a tripod with a slow shutter and slowly zoomed in. I was using my new 20-40 limited zoom.

Wow! While we got a wee bit of snow & ice this past week, there was no way in Hades I was going any further than my front door to take a picture of it. It's beautiful. In pictures. In person, snow sucks!

Going back to the original topic, yes, I prefer faster releases of newer products. I don't like to wait too long for newer features. However, I did not understand the logic behind leaving out key features like focus peaking , etc from lower end models and not incorporating them in k5, k5ii, k5IIs even when they were available in k30 and Kr

Good point. I don't know yet if the upgrade made sense for mr yet but either way I can't wait to get out and shoot. (Here's something from last night. Ship is in the harbor for the Super Bowl.)
