Ricoh/Pentax offers a 3 year warranty in India?
In Australia, Pentax only offer 1 year on body and lenses.

To attract customers because of the ridiculous taxes, K-3 18-135wr kit (with case and 8gb card) is for $1900. Beat that! ;D

just enjoy what you've got.

you will spend FOREVER otherwise worrying about what ever so and so is shooting with. And lets be honest. Who, really cares?

there's not much difference at all between them. One can almost do the same thing with a Canon, Nikon or a Sony counterpart
You can produce images of similar quality, but things are not identical. With the K-3 you gain WR, a smaller form factor (which applies for lenses), better low-light AF, among other things.

Pentax lenses are hardly available, expensive too
I don't know about India, but in general for a comparable quality Pentax lenses are a bit cheaper.

and neither Nikon nor Canon offer very many choices of pro-level, DX lenses. Which means you end up with basically the same weight as an FX system, which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I'm really liking how Pentax has specialized in DX-only pro lenses. It is the reason I recently added a K-3 to my D800 kit. If Pentax only offered big, heavy, FX lenses, I wouldn't have bothered.

And not only that, Pentax offer the DA Limited range of prime lenses designed for APS-C (DX in Nikon speak). Apart from being exceptionally compact and lightweight with premium all-metal construction, these lenses give a truly UNIQUE and exquisitely beautiful rendering to the images taken - something that needs to be seen to be understood.

The same holds true for their FA Limited range. Though designed for full-frame, they are still relatively compact, and their image rendering is legendary. Sheer magic.

No other lens manufacturer offers anything like the DA & FA LIMITED range of lenses.

I wouldn't put any faith in camera rumors. Particularly now when camera sales have dropped so dramatically, and mfrs may not have the money to put out new models as frequently as before.

One of the remarkable new Sony rumors today, is that Sony might put stabilization on e-sensors. I think there's possibly one other company doing that, oh thats right - its Pentax

But you're right, the K3 can't compete against cameras that are rumors.

I've had my K5 for two years now, and just received a K3 on Wednesday. Its quite a remarkable camera and has a switchable AA filter that no other camera on the market has Kidding aside, i'm impressed. Enjoy whatever camera you get - we are lucky to live in this period of time when cameras are so incredible.
