Why I love my K-3:

After reading a review of the Canon 1-DX the other day and finding myself saying at almost every spec, "My K-3 has that. My K-3 does that."; I have decided it is time for a thread that explores why we love our K-3s. I grow weary of the constant comparing to similar technologies on the market. I love this camera and honestly don't care what the specs are, since this tool makes me want to be a better photographer. While the drive to make awesome images was there with my prior Canon gear, I didn't want to go take photos as much as I do now. I would go so far as to say that I have been tempted to take the K-3 with me when I run errands to the gas station, grocery store, or Wal-Mart this morning (I didn't, but not without serious internal discussion).

Here's why I love my K-3:

1. The wide range of backward compatibility with MANY lenses, including my beloved Tamron Adaptalls. This particular photo being an Auto Yashinon-DX 135/ 2.8 in M42 mount:

2. The ruggedness and weather resistance. I plan on taking my camera as many places as possible, and I live in the Pacific Northwest--why wouldn't these things be included if I am going to spend this much on a camera??

Let's hear why you love your K-3, or better yet, let's see why you love your K-3.

I "only" have a K-5II, but I share your reasons for loving my camera! Great images too, btw, which is what made me comment here in the first place. Do you have a flickr, 500px, etc?

I also only have the k-5ii, but I like that my Pentax's features rival cameras that cost a lot more.

I don't have a K-3... yet...

But your same points apply to my K-30- fiddling around with old glass can be super fun and WR is a great feature to have!

(really like your photos, btw )

Well that's odd - I thought this was a K-3 topic in the K-3 forum..

Crop crop crop

I love my K3 for many reasons, not least because I can crop it like mad. See attached where it was cropped 3/4. DA*50-135.

Thank you for the kind comments. I do not have my 500px account fully populated yet, as I have been generally sharing on FB. Until I get home next week, please feel free to check out my non-K-3 photos at
