Eye cup for K-3

Has anyone found an eyecup that fits on the K-3 yet? I wear glasses. Most I have found of course are for Nikon and Cannon.

The K-3 eyepiece is the same dimension as the M-series film cameras and all subsequent Pentax SLR bodies. It should accept a wide range of accessories from Pentax and many other makers.

In the B&H website description says "Select Pentax SLR and DSLR cameras; replaces FL, FP, FR, FN, FO eyeshades" and the K-3 User Manual describes the Eyecup as FS, I do not know, they might not be compatible

It is my understanding that the only difference between the stock eyecup for the K-3 (FS) and that for the K-5 (FR) is that the K-3 version does not have the cut-out for the diopter adjust. Accessories such as Vello unit should work since it has a ton of clearance and should not interfere with the K-3's diopter dial.

There is also the option of the O-ME53 magnifying finder which helps with manual focus lenses.

I took a punt on the currently unavailable Esung SEAGULL Multifunction Camera Eyecup Set for Canon/PENTAX/NIKIN/OLYMPUS (Black) and found the eyecup useless due to being overly rigid and not fitting the curvature of my glasses. However it did come with a set of camera manufacturer specific spacers, most of which I threw away along with the rubber eyecup. I kept the Pentax spacer and remounted the standard K3 eyecup with it. The standard K3 eyecup curves slightly when fitted to the spacer and I find that this nicely moulds to my glasses and steps the eyecup away from the screen. This hasn't completely eradicated greasy screen syndrome, but it is much improved.

This will fit

If you look closely, the picture on the B&H website clearly shows it mounted on a Pentax DSLR -- it actually shows the Pentax name on the rear LCD. Probably a K-30. Also, the spec says it will replace the "FL" eyepiece, which is exactly what came on the *istDS.

Stevebrot pointed out that everything since the M-series film cameras will fit, and he is always right. I can vouch that my rubber eyecup, my "FL" eyepiece, and my O-ME53 are completely interchangeable between my ME, *istDS, and K-5.

Maybe after you buy it, you can come back to this thread and post your impressions.

Too late. I bought the round one through another thread via Amazon by way of Japan! And you are right- I just looked at my old istDS. Same one as the K-3. Time for Ricoh to change to a more professional eye cup.
