K-3 Dust Removal Sound

Is the sound of the sensor vibrating during dust removal audible on the K-3? I hear nothing when I do dust removal on the K-3. My K-01 sounds like a paint shaker and the vibration sound is soft but audible on my Q.

I really want to see it in action, if it really is so quiet:

Sounds like an age related thing - if your are young and still have your high frequency hearing, then you might hear the K-3 dust removal. Get a bit older and the loss of high frequency hearing will make the dust removal appear to be silent. I'll put my hand up as a 50 something person and declare I'm in the second camp.

It's just barely audible if you put your ear to the camera.

Per Pentax the Dust Removal branded DRII that contains an improved Servo controller+IR sensor. Below post has a nice explanation IIRC.

If you have an ultrasound bat detector it is very easy to hear the dust removal, but only with the lens removed. If the lens is in place it is picked up but only very faintly. From what I can tell within the limits of the instrument's capabilities it does a frequency sweep from about 60kHz to 100kHz in 2 seconds.

I am wondering whether the AA simulator also helps contributes significanlty to keeping the sensor clean. After all it effectively orbits at 30,000 RPM, even if with a radius of just 4 microns.

It is audible, barely. Same sound as the AA-simulator (of course). I had forgotten that I had turned the AA-simulator on and went out to take some photos and kept hearing this really high frequency sound each time I clicked the shutter. At first I thought something was wrong with the camera, but then I remembered that the AA-simulator was on. Kind of freaks you out the first time, it isn't nearly the same as the K-7's dust removal.

FWIW, I'm 26 so I haven't lost much hearing yet.
