Supposedly it fixed the "won't turn on" issue - which I think is kinda major, so maybe it also does fix the machine gun issue.

Firmware 1.03 vs D-BG5

The 1.03 firmware fixed the problem with my D-BG5. Now, it works well when I open my k-3 to power on.

And the link to this update.

Latest K-3 Firmware Update : Software Downloads | RICOH IMAGING

The big question is if the ''machinegun'' problem is solved by this firmware.
--------------------------------------------

Quite a few of us will likely be confirming the answer to that in the near future is my guess.

K3 Locking Up (while shooting time-lapse)

Shutter Flutter Panic using BG-5 Battery Grip On Low Battery

K3 died on me

K-3 failure - couldn't stop the mirror flapping up and down

---------- Post added 03-07-2014 at 03:20 AM ----------

There appear to be OOF issues.

I took one of my sharpest lenses (Pentax 100 Macro WR) and out of seven shots, ONE was in focus.

Slapped the same lens on a K-30 and got perfect focus using the same lens in the same light.

I'll play with the internal camera AF settings tomorrow.

Rite ..

No K-x update
--------------------------------

Ricoh states the primary update is to enable support of their new REAR CONVERTER 1.4X (a lens multiplier).

All of the firmwares for each of the respective cameras that were updated had this as the primary update reason. Unless you were planning on using that multiplier, you are not missing anything.

It's the 'Improved stability for general performance' that can often be just as useful as stuff like additional support for new lenses or flashes. Often that phrase means a multitude of small tune-ups and fixes.

I'm beginning to breath a sigh of relief for the 'Improved stability for general performance' From what I can tell, 1.03 has repaired OOF issues that were driving me NUTS!

Waiting to hear back/evaluate the battery grip and/or mirror flutter corrections. Could be mixed results on that feature still yet.

I hope that after upgrading to firmware version 1.03, if any of you experience the mirror flutter problem, please post it here. It's my fondest hope that this silly annoyance will go away with this firmware upgrade. SO:

1) UPGRADE TO V. 1.03!
2) SEE IF YOU EXPERIENCE THE MIRROR FLUTTER PROBLEM ANY MORE.
3. IF YOU DO, REPORT IT HERE!

4. IF YOU'VE HAD THE PROBLEM BEFORE, AND AFTER REASONABLE USE TIME, YOU DON'T ANY MORE - REPORT THAT TOO!

Thanks to all for staying on top of this.

Received my K3 with great excitement couple of days ago. Worried about the mirror flutter and random lockup issues. If this version 1.03 doesnt resolve those problems, I may return my K3. It hasnt acted abnormal in the 500 pics that I took, but you never know

I have shot 26000 shots and have had no flippedy flopp...

EDIT: I was mistaken about the shutter count. The shutter count is 17912. I added 10000 for some reason. Sorry about that.

Quick questions.
Is there SD card in SD2?
Do you use battery grip?

Thank you

That is interesting. It would be nice to know what proportion of K-3 users on this forum have not seen the fault, but that might be difficult to determine reliably.
I thought that one possibility was that the fault was fairly random and did not depend much on how the camera was used at the time. 26000 shots without a fault would make that unlikely though and points either to a particular set of conditions triggering the fault, or to a hardware problem.

I use Sandisk Extreme 45MB/s 16GB in slot 1 and a Sandisk Extreme 30MB/s 8GB in slot 2. No grip.

Also I need to tell you I was misstaken about the shutter count. The shutter count is 17912. I added 10000 for some reason. Sorry about that.

First off, the shutter count is 17912. I added 10000 for some reason. Sorry about that.

The only hick up is on firmware 1.00 with live view, a M42 lens and pressing Green Button. The camera hung. Fixed in 1.01 or 1.02.

Waste of effort unless you just spent $600 on the HD PENTAX-DA AF REAR CONVERTER .
'Improved stability for general performance.' is meaningless unless there are some real 'fixes' and improvements which there obviously aren't otherwise they'd list them.
Absolutely. Pentax always lists all of the problems that they have with their products. Just look at SDM lens issues.
