New K-3

Hello All!

So I picked up a K-5 II in November last year. Loved it and couldn't wait to get a K-3 as a companion body. Already have some good, not outstanding lenses, those are to come.

So today, I bit the "bullet" traded ALL my Canon 50D outfit in, 5 lenses and grip, remote... Came away with a K-3 body and an IOU for the K-3 battery grip (due in about a week). Local shop here in NoVA.

So now to read the manual, charge the battery, and have some fun!

Thank you All for your insights and experiences, that and My Dad's influence with Pentax and the K-1000!

If you can shoot with a K-5 you can shoot with a K-3. I just got my K-3 last week and I found very few changes. Except in the images! Enjoy!

I got too anxious waiting for the K-3's battery to charge, so I pulled the K-5 II's battery. Through a 64 Gb card in slot 1, 32 GB in slot 2, selected raw + L (relative to the cards), AWESOME! What is really great is memory card slots, swappable batteries between the K-5 II and K-3, and the ease with which the K-3 setup.

HOWEVER! Can someone tell me why the K-3 manual is 1/3 as thick as the K-5 II? LOL I have been looking at creating a small "cheat sheet" for the K-5 II's manual, just so I can find things!

LOL

It is one helluva camera (in a great way)

There are a few 'growing pains,' which firmware 1.03 appears to have addressed correctly.

I wasn't paying attention to the screen during the update of the firmware, never saw the "Completion" text at the end, screen went blank, and stayed that way. Got nervous that I was about to brick the camera, waited 5 minutes, nothing, powered off. Removed the SD chip, put it back in, saw it blink, recognize that a chip was inserted. Powered back on. Worked. So when I update the K5 II's firmware, I'll try not to blink. LOL So far so good!
