K3 struggling with focus

I've noticed since firmware 1.03 that the camera is having difficulty focussing. I mainly use the DA* 16-50mm lens. The small hexagon focus symbol will flash away but not lock in, not every time but often enough that it's a real pain. I'm also trying the AF.A autofocus mode, which might be part of the problem. I've switched back to AF.S to see how it goes.

I have had the K3 crazy focus thing along with the live view lockups and shutter flap
Only solution to focus problem was to switch to spot focus for a while then rest camera ASAP.
Seemed to help resolve after removing battery. Camera may need ECT (electro convulsive therapy-sick joke)
Local distributor (Oz) seems unaware of these problems
