At Last!!!! I had just about given up. I am SO tired of converting all my RAW files with the Adobe utility.

Spoke too soon. It's a crock. Aperture loses all EXIF information about the lens, at least with PEF files.

Can you please tell me if this upgrade allows you to see what was the actual focus point used by the K-3 on each photograph you have taken?

Lens info returns!

I have now tested PEF, DNG, and JPEG files shot on the K-3 and uploaded to Aperture after upgrading to DCR 5.04. Both PEF and JPEG report "unknown lens" in all cases (at least the DA 70 and DA 18-135 that I tried), but DNG correctly identifies the lenses. (Of course, jpegs don't care about DCR; I'm just saying that PEF RAW and jpeg behave the same in this regard.)

So, use DNG rather than PEF on the K-3 if you use Aperture!

It doesn't report focus point though.

Alrighty!! Now with Aperture support available I can start considering the K-3 as an upgrade path from my K-30!

Paul, thanks a lot for testing the PEF files for lens EXIF. I was wondering why some JPEGs I shot came up "unknown lens" ... grumble. Guess I'll leave the camera in giant DNG mode for now.

Thanks again.

Other software, e.g., Pentax Digital Camera Utility 5 and Photoshop CS6, correctly report the lens for PEF files, so the information is clearly there. It's just Aperture (and iPhoto) that have the problem. I can live with using DNG, as I never had a strong preference either way. However, the lack of support for indicating focus points is mildly annoying.

he, he, I just got a K3 in my hands three days ago and wrote to Apple Feedback requesting they add support for its image format.

So "You're Welcome".
