Feeling naked : (

Our high school just finished competitive cheer season, and during a dash to get to the floor one competition, the camera actually dropped out of the bag. After picking it up and checking the glass and seeing nothing wrong, I went into the gym and grabbed some great shots.

But a couple of days later, I noticed that the expose dial (on the left side of the body) had taken the majority of the impact, and bent just enough that the settings dial and the little push button were both loose and ready to fall off.

I just sent it in to Pentax service through the new Pentax dealer in MI (the only one now) and I feel so naked when you don't have the camera! I just can't on a whim or a nice day go and shoot something!

Ugh. Anyone had experience with how long it will probably take to get back? I don't think the damage is bad, but I'm still worried about length of time (but better now than in the summer!).

Anyone one else been so stupid as to drop theirs?

Yes, bent the lens mount flange and the mount on my DA*300. Should see it in another 3 weeks.

I bought a second one.

I think according to some, you should just go out shooting with your smart phone. You'll be surprised that your photos are just as good as with your Pentax equipment...

Or even better, grab a film camera (I hope you have one somewhere collecting dust) and to add to the fun put a b&w in it and get out...

I'm so sorry you and the K-3 had to share such a tragedy. But you are okay and the camera is getting repaired. I hate to see a camera in pain.
My biggest fear with the K-3 is whacking that knob against something. It should be made of titanium or carved from basalt or something.

Also dropped my old K-r, a 60 cm drop right on the concrete. Something inside was broken and had it fixed. Since I was living in Beijing at that time I had it fixed in less than a week but I eventually sold my K-r to a friend. Since then I always wanted a back-up to my K-30...

Well you better loose a camera on one last masterpiece shot then holding on to your camera and never make that great shot.

Can we see it?
