K3 Battery Options

What's the latest information on 3rd party batteries for the K3?

I have a couple of off brand batteries that appeared to work fine in my K5, but did not seem to hold a charge very long in the K3.

But we took the K5 out this weekend with one of those batteries (freshly charged), and lo and behold, that battery seemed to lose its charge fairly quickly, so I'm wondering if these batteries are on the fritz.

Got a big trip coming up this weekend and would like some input on what batteries seem to work best with the K3 and K5.

I would recommend the Wasabi batteries. Had no issues at all with these at 2300mAh and lower cost than OEM makes them a winner to me and the K-3.

I have been using both OEM and third-party batteries in my DSLR´s. Many of the offerings in the latter group are outright rubbish.
However, some brands do offer pretty good value for the money. I have found Hähnel to be one of the better third-party battery suppliers.
In my use - which I consider to be somewhat heavier than the average user - these batteries consistently have a lifetime around 1,5-2 years, while OEM batteries reach some 2-3 years. Unlike many other third-party brands, Hähnels are consistent and predictable. I use the original Pentax charger and treat them exactly the same way as OEM batteries. I have not seen a single catastrophic failure yet. When they reach the end of their lifecycle, the capacity just gradually decreases over a period of time. Pricing probably varies in different markets. In my part of the world Hähnels are sold for about half the price of Pentax originals.

I have 3 Pentax, and 3 generic batteries. From those 3 generic, all bought from the same manufacturer, 2 are good, one is low in capacity.

I see no difference between the OEM or 3rd party batteries carried over from my K7. My K3 does use more "juice" Than my K5 but that has been well documented and is the nature of the beast.

Was in a similar situation. Ordered these Wasabi Power Battery (2-Pack) and Charger for Pentax D-LI90 and Pentax 645D, K-01, K-3, K-5, K-5 II, K-5 IIs, K-7: Camera & Photo and awaiting delivery at the moment.
Lets see how these hold up.
