Ephotozine.com is reporting that the Pentax K-3 has won the Best Expert DSLR award for 2014, from the Technical Image Press Association.

It is good to see the deserving K-3 being recognized with a TIPA Award.

Does anyone know what are the criteria or definitions for the various TIPA categories?

In the 2014 series of awards, there are four categories for DSLRs - Advanced, Professional, Expert, and Entry Level, and another category for Best Premium Camera. The TIPA website seems to avoid any mention of the criteria that are used to place the candidate cameras in their categories. Hence, we are left to guess why a particular camera is judged in its category.

What defines an "expert" camera?
