Thanks Taylorriverguy , yes I was referring to GL02 L bracket , it wont fit the K5 with battery grip. Unless you're willing to get creative with a dremel , also looking at K3 and grip I doubt it would be a straight fitament.

Mestos is the only game in town, really worldwide, for a custom L Bracket for the K-5 with a grip and also another model for the K-3 with a grip. There probably are cluggy "universal" solutions that would be bulkier, heavier, and not fit as well but for a well made, light, strong L Bracket custom made to fit your gear - you just have to buy the appropriate Mestos bracket from MADFORCAMERA.

Those waiting for RRS and other manufacturers to pony up for PENTAX custom L Brackets for the K-3 with grip and the K-5 with grip --- don't hold your breath.

I find the MESTOS brackets so light they do not come off unless I screw up and drain the battery in the camera before replacing the grip battery.

Just be happy such a well made product is available for your gear.

Has anyone tried the tripod HORUSBENNU M-2531T Camera Traveler Tripod w LX-28T Ball Head Kit from MADFORCAMERA? I know this doesn't fit the thread but there seems to be some people in this thread familiar with this company.

What about the K-5 without the grip? Is it reasonably sturdy and well made? Thanks for any information you can share about it.

I haven't tried it on K5 without the grip , but it's quite reasonable in quality and very sturdy , I ended up using it on my sony A7R with grip and it fitted up quite well. I will take some photos of it and post them up.

Great, thanks! I forgot to ask before: it looks like the "L" part is held on with 2 screws. Can these be removed to use it as a regular non-L camera mounting plate?

This is the one I bought from the same Ebayer for a Camera without a Grip and it fits nicely on my K-5

FWIW I was able to order one of these last year by emailing kohtec@hanmail.net (which was the contact email for the mestos site). It was $145.50 USD shipped and he mailed it the next day with tracking. I ordered on 5/22, he shipped on 5/23, and I received it on 5/26. I haven't taken it off much since then. It's heavy, but usually when I want to go light, I take off the whole battery grip and the L bracket stays attached to that. It's very well made and you don't have to remove it to switch the grip battery out.
