I don't know how many times it has to be said, v1.11 does not fix the problem, its just a workaround.
What it does detect when the fault is occurring and resets the camera, the photo you were taking at the time will be lost and possibly some of the most recent setting changes. The behaviour is described, somewhat poorly, in the release notes for v1.11.
I have had the fault occur 3 times since upgrading to v1.11 firmware.

Neither means anything of significance. Pentax serial numbers are not strictly sequential. The first several digits appear to represent production runs. The black, silver, and gunmetal bodies all have different serial number ranges. If you want to know your camera's date of manufacture, it is written into the exif metadata for each photo. There are various free tools available to view this information.

Yes, took it in last week, with a couple of weeks to spare. I probably won't hear anything for a few weeks unfortunately.
