Having just read Ming Thein's 645z review, he mentions that the diffraction correction is effective in the DNG files, unlike the Olympus system. He also says that it works well and that he doesn't see any reason why you'd want to switch it off. Sounds like a great addition - assuming it's true, of course.

It does sound like something that is a neat feature. I don't shoot in the diffraction zone a whole lot, but sometimes (shooting slow exposures without a ND filter handy, or macro shots), I get there. If lightroom can read the difference, then it sounds worth while.

I've had a couple of photos where it's noticeable but not many. Of all cameras, it strikes me that this would be most useful for the Q.

The only time I go smaller than f11 on APS-C is when shooting macros.

Hello,
The firmware upgrade will be done today to 1.10...and yes, has the diffraction correction.
I have seen pictures and works properly.
Best Regards

They're moving from 1.03 to 1.10? Seems like a large jump. I wonder what other features they might include.

Changes according to the Ricoh JP site:

QuoteQuote:
Changes to V1.10
- Added Diffraction Correction on Lens Correction.

*How to operate Diffraction Correction click here.

- Shortened processing time for Digital Filter and Color Fringe Correction.
- Improved stability for AWB (Auto white balance) performance.
- Changed to ISO Bracketing when using Exposure Bracketing on TAv mode
- Improved stability for general performance.

*Contents of [Version 1.03] and earlier version will be also updated.
No mention of flapping. The PDF about diffraction correction also mentions that diffraction correction doesn't apply to RAW files, and only works with modern Pentax lenses.

Could be buried in here: Improved stability for general performance. You wouldn't expect them to come out and say "fixes mirror flop"?

I couldn't load the page for diffraction correction, apparently I need to install a font package for big pain in the ass Adobe Reader.

I hate Adobe Reader. I use Sumatra PDF (open source, small and fast). Opens all my PDF's no problems.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Adobe Reader wants more updates than all other programs on my computer put together.

Just drop a PDF file into Google Chrome, has built in PDF reader.

Not all pdf files are on the net, you still need a reader. I've tried Chrome browser a couple of times and much prefer IE. It's hard avoid Chrome, other softwares keep trying to dump it into my computer. It's like Google spyware.

I tried Sumatra PDF and it works, so I'll stop highjacking the thread now. Thanks rawr.

I'm waiting for those without a K-3 to say the problem still exists

Seriously, I'd expect them to say its fixed. Maybe they are not 100% confident and have not said anything.
