May I ask why is it you seem to stand alone with this observation? I've noticed NO DETERIORATION in any aspect of my K-3's operation due to FW v1.10. In fact, all seems to be working quite nicely.

Just curious... M

My K3 is far more accurate than my K5. I didn't need to adjust for any of my lens at all.

Hmmm. Strange behaviour. Perhaps the firmware reset all your custom settings to defaults or something.

In general, the K-3 AF is a much more polished performer than the K-5/K-x/K200D I have experience of. I have even discontinued using centre-spot AF exclusively, which is what I used to do with the K-5 and it's predecessors. Perhaps re-check your K-3 AF settings to make sure that all is well. They are very complicated.

One thing I kept on doing myself for a long time after getting the K3 was always enabling AF point select somehow, resulting in a focus point being commonly selected that was in the top right of the screen, or something similar. I really still am not very happy with the new AF mode selection procedure on the K-3. And don't get me started about the new metering mode selection controls.

Each camera body/lens pair of mine has required a degree of AF adjust, depending on the body more than the lens.

it's so bad its unusable. It's already been back to Pentax for this AF problem but it was returned supposedly "within spec".
Hmmm again. Is it just the FA31?

I would send it in again. I've had no issues with mine before or after firmware update.

Can you still return it? If you are not happy with it, there is probably something wrong with your copy, somewhere. Reviews and tests that I have sen show that the K-3 has pretty good AF. Its better you return it, even if you just buy another copy with a different serial number. It will probably work better. first you can try the usual, though:

-remove battery, charge it, leave it outside overnight
-make sure the lens and camera mount are clean and free of grime or defects
-reset camera to factory defaults

I have shot two jobs with my K-3 since the firmware update. No change in the performance or accuracy of the AF that I have noticed. Add in a photowalk last week and I've probably shot 1,500 images since the update.

I am not certain that it is the cause, but I've noticed a deterioration in AF in the last little while. DA*300 with 1.4 TC. I had a mishap with this lens and body soon after I bought it. Both went to the repair shop in Mississauga and came back right on, quick and confident requiring no adjustment. I use AFC with back button focus, and I've noticed it focuses, beeps then adjusts out of focus. I was thinking of trying my second body to narrow down the source.

The update stabilized one body nicely. It had very infrequent flapping mirror, and would do odd things inconsistently. I have been using it quite heavily the last week and it has been flawless. I typically use it with short lenses. The long lens body that was repaired has been very stable, and no difference other than the focus after 1.10.
