How has the K3 worked out for you?

Are you sticking with the K3 or moving to another maker for FF?

K3 is so far the best APS-C I ever owned. I am not changing it for a FF.

My move from Canon (50D) was undoubtedly the best move for me. This camera has rekindled my interest and allowed me to explore other creative endeavors that I could not afford to before.

So far so good. I'm not finding it as big a jump from my K5 as I did when I went from my K20 to my K5. But it's clearly what I wanted and expected. I have no interest in a FF digital camera at this point.

I need an APS-C format for more reach without all the weight of full-frame long lenses.
The K-3 + DA* 60-250mm is a joy to use and no other manufacturer offers a similar setup.
And besides, I already own a D800 so I'm sticking with a two-body solution for the foreseeable future.

I already have FF cameras but I put film into them. I will never give up my K-3. Awesome in so many ways.

I enjoy my K-3 and it's a big upgrade from my K-30 and at this point I don't see why I should move to FF.
Got my hands on a K-01 as well so now I have to many cameras

Was going to say that too, I'll just echo it.

I have certainly no interest in an FF model.

My K3 is an improvement over my K5iis, but I'd love to see some tweaks:

I'd PAY for a firmware upgrade that would allow me to Calibrate lenses LIVE in Live View without all the hassles of take a picture, view it on your computer, adjust, repeat.

I'd like 50+ AF points that cover the whole frame because you can never have enough AF points.

I'd like the USER MODES to be push button, instead of on the dial. I can see many many times where'd I'd like to be able to transition between Spot AF and 9 or even 25 Point and/or center weighted/matrix metering.

I'd like to see LOCKS put on the e-dials, my big hands seem to turn them a lot, especially those on the grip as I rotate portrait and landscape orientation. I've gone from 1/2500 @ f8 to 1/250 @ f5 without even knowing. Sometimes it has cost me shots @300mm and fast moving objects.

I miss the dial for AF-S to AF-C, though if they gave me programmable user modes for buttons I wouldn't care so much about this

and I'd like 11FPS

Maybe the K-2 will have some of these features...

I am very happy with the K-3 so I will keep using it. I will add a FF-solution before next summer, if Pentax does it I will be happy, if not I will look arround. The only thing I am not so happy with is the K-3 + O-GPS combo. The K-5 was easier to shoot in the dark and gave me better results when using longer focal lengths.

I'm pretty happy with mine. Has been a good solid camera. Faster operation than the K5, good photos from it.

As to full frame, I don't have any particular need for it at present. Pentax also offers lenses for which there aren't equivalents in other mounts, not because they are so fast, but because they aren't. Nikon wouldn't dream of making a 15mm f4 equivalent, but it is still a great lens. So, for the time being, I really like Pentax's philosophy and will keep shooting with their lenses.

The K3 was a great improvement in IQ over the already very good K5. It has two issues though that it would be good to fix:
  1. The infamous mirror-flop bug. However, this only happened once to me, and was an inconvenience for less than a minute, so it's not a big deal. May have been (partially) fixed by firmware 1.11.
  2. The noticeable shutter lag when using P-TTL flash. This disturbs me more.
I am in no rush to jump to FF. A few of my lenses are FF-capable, and I'll consider getting a Pentax FF DSLR body if one ever emerges in K-mount, but I value the relative compactness of the present K3 setup.
