Pentax K-3 review, thinking of buying a K3?

I just posted the first part of my review of the Ricoh Pentax K-3 on my blog. If you are not familiar with Foto Gizmo it is a site where I review equipment that I buy and use myself. There is no sponsorship, I don't get gear loaned to me, so my reviews are unbiased and based on actual use of the gear in the field or my studio.

The last Pentax DLSR I owned was the K5, a fine camera but one that fell short in one or two areas. My experience with the K-3 so far tells me that the shortcomings in the K5 have been properly addressed. If you have been thinking about buying or not buying a Pentax K3 you may want to read the review. If you are interested, click here

Regards to all,

Aboud Dweck

Thank you Mark. I'll be adding to the review later and then I have one coming on the Sigma 18-35 1.8 Art lens.

A nice layman's language review of the K3, thanks.

Agreed, a wonderful, practical, non-fussy review. And I think that's the first K-3 review I've read to mention the composition adjust
feature in Live View. Seems a potentially useful feature, but is it in practice just a curio?

Actually it is quite useful, especially for architecture or landscapes. Say you are working with a ball head and you are constantly trying to get the right lock point for your level and you are a hair off. You can fuss with the ball head or go straight to composition adjust and take care of it in live view. I think it is a brilliant idea. As I mentioned this function turns any lens into a virtual shift lens, albeit with smaller degrees of correction, and I find that a wonderful feature.
