DA 300:1.4X RC/ Toronto Blue Jays

Ok so this isn't a true Toronto blue jay baseball player (they didn't make the playoffs) but is a blue jay from my backyard. When the elm leaves turn in fall the blue on yellow makes a nice pairing.

Toronto Blue jays... I expected a Bautista or a Kawasaki... Super shot, the yellow birch leaves make a great background. This is bucket list gear for me... one day.

Agree that the TC and DA 300 work very well together.

How far away do you think the bird was? The TC does not seem to change the quality of the image. Have been looking around for a super zoom, but this combo has me thinking?

I was about 6-10m away. Yes the TC holds IQ better than I expected.

Thank you, a hard bird to photograph, they do not stick around long!

I wish you DA*300 owners would go easy. You are generating an itch.

How did that tree manage to escape Dutch Elm disease? When I was a kid, they use to have these really wonderful tall elm trees lining the streets. Easily 20 to 30 meters tall. They would plant them on both sides of the street and as they grew they formed a natural canopy over the streets shading them in the summer. It was ike being in a catherdral with tall colums and the roof arching overhead. Today they only live 10 to15 years before the fungus attacks them.

Good point.... I burned the last of the elms I've seen in the 70's. The trunks were logged, because the trees were dying and I burned the tops for firewood. I don't think I've seen a mature elm since then... I haven't seen an elm leaf for a long time, that makes this a kind of special picture. Here's to hoping that there's an elm that has developed some resistance to the fungus.

In Alberta we have lots of elms growing as the government has been strict in the importation of elms from other provinces.
