I turn mine off when the battery starts getting low....unless I have a spare. Otherwise it's about 50/50. If wildlife are involved it stays on all the time.

That is how I hold my camera, seems to be rare, I usually see people with a camera around the neck. Anyway, I hold it in one hand with the cord wrapped around my wrist/arm.
