Odd things on San Francisco Bay

San Francisco Bay offers so many iconic views that I decided to to capture a few vistas fascinating but totally overlooked by a casual observer.

I am recognizing some of these, I think. Is the third one of the Potrero power plant?

Pic 1 is a gantry crane. The last one is a different style of crane. They are used for loading and unloading cargo from container ships and/or shipbuilding.

These port cranes in Oakland were George Lucas's inspiration for the robotic walkers in the Empire Strikes Back:

A few years back when a large fire damaged portions of the Bay Bridge, it made my commute form San Francisco to Emeryville soooooo much easier, since it was one of the few exits that remained open, and traffic on the bridge was almost non-existent.

Yep, that's the Potrero power plant. I've been all over that on a project back in 1998. Love this series as a different view. Well shot.

That day due to currents we sailed south from South Beach and these structures totally made my day. I wish I had polaroid filter on me as shooting off the water in such a bright light could be much more productive.

Is that over in Richmond? If so, I think it's part of the old Kaiser shipworks.
