My new K3 arrived today

My new K3 arrived today from B&H Photo. I took advantage of the Bundle discount going on this week. I received the K3 Body, the DA 50mm 1.8, the battery grip and the AF-540 FGZ flash for $980. I am upgrading from my trusty K10D. Man this thing is different from the K10D. I think it will take awhile to figure this camera out. I really like the live preview, I always wished my K10D had that. I can not believe how bright the LCD screen is. I know I will posting some questions here in the future. It will definitely be interesting to see how much of difference there will be from the K10D.

Now I will have to buy some WR lens to go with the K3. I ordered the HD 55-300 WR from the Pentax Webstore yesterday for $258. I hope I actually receive since I have heard of people having issues with the Webstore in the past. I do quite a bit of wildlife photography and having the weather sealing will be a real plus.

Congratulations on the new camera. I am so so trying hard to resist getting one for myself. But like the Borg say, "Resistance is futile."

Good for you. Enjoy. I've got a B&H K-3 deal on my watch list, but your deal seems even a little better than the one I looked at.

I got my K3 this afternoon too. I am playing with it whole night and love it. Much better than my loved K-7 which has been with me more than four years.

My K-3 is "in the mail". Got it from the Pentax Web Shop here in Oz after rattling their cage and asking them to do something like the US Black Friday. We got a 24 hrs/15% off everything sale which was not bad. My K-3 body was $934 AUD (about $800 USD) which is about $300 less than the Oz resellers have it at. I could not see the point in waiting for it to go lower - time waiting is time not using it. I have no WR lenses yet but that is not a big issue. I want the 55-300 eventually. Can't justify the DA 300. The FA 50/1.4, FA135/2.8 and Samyang 81/1.4 and Sigma zooms should do for now. My K10D will get less use and my K-01 will still be my "travelling light" companion. Learning curve coming up!

If you are on the Pentax Oz site www.pentax.com.au you can register for email updates (bottom right of page). I sent them the US Pentax Store deals and asked what they could do. RobG and others asked similar questions. Within a couple of hours they were saying "announcement coming" and we got the email saying 15% off until midnight (yesterday) using the coupon BLACKFRIDAYOZ. There were a couple of threads on the Forum price watch tracking events.

Congratulations on everyone getting their new cameras. I was not looking for a new camera right now. I have always been happy with My K10D. I upgraded to that from my old reliable Super Program. I have a new HD 55-300 WR coming Wednesday that I bought from the Pentax Webstore for $268, another deal I just could not pass up.

My K3 is in the mail. My K5iis is also in the mail, and that one will have to be returned. I had set my heart on the K5iis, thinking I could not afford the K3. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I was going to continue to want that K3 and probably spend more money in the long run if I didn't just go ahead and get it now. Can't wait to get it. I'm expecting quite a learning curve from my little K-x.

the interface is so similar I don't see any transition interface. Just the the AF speed and ISO is much better than K-7, my F-50mm 1.7 is very usable on k-3 while so difficult to focus on K-7. Auto white balance of K-3 is very accurate. I even don't bother switch to other white balance mode. Well, lots of people looking forward of the FF. I am happy to go with my k-3 for another few years.
